Located in the centre of Dublin, the college grew over the centuries into a major centre of learning  and culture, producing many notable figures in literature, science, and politics.  One of the traditions associated with the university is the Provost’s Bell,  which historically rang to mark the opening and closing of the college gates each day,  reflecting the strict routines of university life in earlier centuries. 

Trinity is also famous for landmarks such as the Old Library and the Book of Kells,  a beautifully decorated manuscript created by Celtic monks around the 9th century.  Today, Trinity College remains a leading university  and an important cultural and historical landmark in Dublin.
