'Mulligan's'

The late American President, John F. Kennedy made sure to visit Mulligan's of Poolbeg Street during his visit to Dublin in the 1950s, passing through the doors that almost two hundred years' before were the entrance to one of Dublin's best known shebeens, or 'illegal/unlicensed establishments'. 

Licensed in 1782, Mulligan's has seen more than its fair share of 'well-know' visitors, including Irish novelist, James Joyce author of some of the most famous works in literary history - who was allegedly spotted there more than some of the bar staff...

The doors to Mulligan's were also positioned (conveniently) directly across from the stage door of the old Theatre Royal, making it a tempting location for a pre, mid or post show 'quick one'. 

The number of visitors, who have over the centuries, followed the well worn path to the doors of to Mulligan's would be impossible to calculate but one thing's for sure: a visit to Dublin wouldn't be complete without a visit to Mulligan's of Poolbeg Street.
